logo120FX-602P Sim is a simulation of the favorite scientific calculator FX-602P, which was produced in the past by a well-known Japanese manufacturer.

iphone5This simulation runs on your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The program is available in Apple’s App Store as a universal app.

Its specialty: It is easy to program based on algebraic notation. Functions and programming-features are completely simulated.

Download_on_the_App_Store_Badge_US-UK_135x40As oppose to the original device the default programming memory of FX-602P Sim is not limited to 512 steps. It has been extended to 999 steps. The default number of registers has been increased from 22 to 110.

In addition the upper registers can be switched to special readonly-registers to read particular values like date, time, timezone and GPS-information.

A special feature is the simulated printer FP-10 for printing listings and memory content as well as data and numbers out of program executions. You can also use it just simply for printing your calculations.

All officially documented functions of the original device are simulated. Undocumented functions, as they are known for synthetic programming are not part of the simulation. The option to play music in connection with an interface-adapter is not simulated either.

I wanted a simple Casio calculator for the ipad, the main feature being the constant button so you can subtract FROM by typing 3 – – 10 = 7 for example, and when you type without constants the equals does not keep doing the same calculation which always leaves you wondering if you have accidentally pressed equals twice. So the ipad app almost fulfills my requirement except that I keep the iPad in a leather case and is only supportable in the desk in landscape mode. The app does not support landscape mode so sadly it is useless for me.

    Wie kann man denn eingegebene Programme speichern, sichern und wieder neu laden ?

    1. Zum Speichern tippen Sie auf das LCD des Taschenrechners, und es öffnen sich die Einstellungen.

      Dort auf “Dateien” tippen, und es öffnet sich das Verzeichnis für die Programme, was beim ersten mal leer ist. Zum Speichern oben rechts auf das + Zeichen tippen. Dann können Sie wählen, ob Sie Programme, Daten oder beides speichern wollen.
      Beim Dateinamen sind Sie frei in der Wahl und brauchen keine Extension. Eine Extension hängt der Emulator von selbst an.

      Zum Laden tippen Sie im Datei-Verzeichnis einfach auf den gewünschen Dateinamen, und das Programm wird in den Taschrenrechnerspeicher geladen.

  4. Very nice emulator. I owned a FX-602P years ago – In my opinion its the best programmable calculator ever.
    Question:
    I can overwrite a saved .pf file – but how can I delete it?

    1. Go to Settings by tapping on the calculator LCD. Then tap on Files.
      In the files’ list just swipe on the file you wish to delete from right to left. That will show the red “Delete”-Button.

    Ich erinnere mich noch wie wir uns RAM Erweiterungen eingebaut haben, die Schwierigkeiten an die SMD Speicher zu kommen, das Drehen am Kondensator um den Takt zu erhöhen.
    Benutze auch noch immer das Original und habe noch ganz viele Unterlagen.
    Planst du auch die versteckten Codes umzusetzen oder die Sound Ausgabe am Kassetten Interface?

    seit einiger Zeit kann ich den Simulator nicht mehr mit Dropbox synchronisieren.
    Ich erhalte immer die folgende Fehlermeldung:

    1. Problem-Lösung:

      1. Wenn Sie auf einem PC oder Mac ebenfalls Dropbox installiert haben, kopieren Sie alle Dateien im Ordner \Dropbox\Apps\fx-602p sim\inbox\ in den darunterliegenden Ordner \Dropbox\Apps\fx-602p sim\.
      2. Löschen Sie danach den Ordner \Dropbox\Apps\fx-602p sim\inbox\
      2. Synchronisieren Sie dann in der FX602P-App mit Dropbox. Dann solte das Problem bereits behoben sein.

    I found a minor bug in printer function.
    When I calculate following expression,
    the last divide operator is printed as minus
    operator.

    1024*(1/5+1/7-1/35)=

    1024×(1÷5+1÷7+1÷35)=

    1. I’m going to fix this bug as soon as possible. Luckily this bug does not affect the calculation’s result.

  9. Please help! The latest update to this app from the App Store has stopped this app from opening on my iPod at all. I love this app and I would like it to continue to work on my iPod. Please fix this. Relevant details are: App version 2.3.4. Date of update 11 Aug 2016. My iPod is 4th generation touch running iOS 6.16. Lorraine.

  10. I am a nut for the Casio fx-9750G PLUS. I have abot 50 engineering programs I have saved on 3 separate calculators for save keeping or interaction. A nut, I know. I purchased your emulator hoping for a similar programming language. I’ll work through a few simple ones I have but do you have the ambition to put a “fx” emulator together anytime soon? Thanks.

    ich kann diese Anwendung nur wärmstens weiter empfehlen. Also Besitzer eines FX-602P, bereits seit den 80ern, finde ich wirklich Spaß daran meine Programme weiter zu verwenden.
    Die Anwendung läuft stabil und ein ein paar nette Extras eingebaut. GPS und Uhrzeit fehlen dem Original ja. Die Synchro via Dropbox ist bequem und sehr schnell. So sind iPhone und iPad immer aktuell.
    Das Beste ist jedoch der sehr schnelle Support. Immer freundlich und sehr hilfreich.

    Ich habe bereits vor Jahren ein kostspieliges Hardwareupdate auf einen FX-603P vorgenommen. Das zweizeilige Display möchte ist ist nicht mehr missen. Ich würde mich den wünschen einiger Kommentatoren anschliessen und den Auto sanft bitten über einige Stunden Programmieraufwand nachzudenken. Ich würde sofort ein kostenpflichtiges Update vornehmen.

    1. Ich mache mir da gerade Gedanken darüber, ob ich es mache. Und wenn ja, wie. Ob ich eine neue App anfertige, oder die bestehende erweitere.
      Ich war nie im Besitz des FX-603P und müßte mich dann ausschließlich auf die Bedienungsanleitung und Tokenliste verlassen. Immerhin fehlt dem FX-602P Sim die boolsche Algebra mit andere Zahlensystemen und das Bruchrechnen.

  13. Herr Becker, Many, many thanks! I bought by 602P in 1982 and still keep it on my desk as it’s so easy to write a quick program to solve an awkward calculation. Now I have an even better version that I can carry with me! A faithful copy with some real clever and subtle improvements like the INV fading the no longer applicable options.

    I’ve found a couple of minor bugs. Please don’t take the following as criticism I still think it’s fantastic.

    I’m running version 2.3.4 and there are two bugs around memory overflow. One causing the simulator to crash.
    Simply it can be shown by
    9 EXP 99 Min 01 M+01 MR 01
    This shows 1.8 EXP 10, but internally the calculator must be holding 1.8 EXP 100 and just showing the first 2 digits of the exponent. If you enter log it gives 100.2552725 showing it really does think of the number as > 1.0 EXP 100

    In the following program:
    AC 1 Min00 Min01 LBL0 MR01 log INT “ AR00 – # ” MR01 M+01 ISZ GOTO0
    A real 602P will give an ERROR at MR00=332 as M01 tries to go >1.0 EXP 100
    The simulator will work happy above the 1.0 EXP 100 point
    If you HLT the program the exponent of M01 is always the first 2 digits of the true 3 digit value
    If you HLT the program with the exponent of M01 >307 the simulator crashes
    If you go back in, even trying to display M01 causes another crash


    There is also a change in behaviour of the )
    In the real 602P if used without a ( it will both act as an = and clear the K

    In the following program:

    A real 602P will have 9 in M03 4 in M04
    I believe this are the values they should be
    The simulator will have 9 in M03 12 in M04

    In the following program:

  14. Thank you very much for your notes and detailed test cases, which give me a good insight what’s wrong. It’s a valuable feedback for me which I appreciate a lot. A good hint to make the existing code better. It’s funny that I didn’t get any feedback about this issue before during the last five years this program exists. Usually it’s easy to run into errors when there are no boundary checks.

    1) These missing boundary checks exist in M+ and M-. I accidentally missed it since the calc-operations are not explicitly called. I’ll get it fixed with the next version.

    2) The 2nd issue is a different behaviour with the K-flag. You are right, a closing bracket has to disable the K-flag. The subsequent test cases you describe seem to be related to this, I have to look at it closer. This will also be fixed.
